Inspiration for the piece:

I find myself thinking about the lack of love I get from those who I did the most for. How I was left to do this time on my own. How my kids' mom cheated and lied and stole from me. How I barely hear from my children. How I miss my life and the stitches represent the healing since I'm getting better and almost home.

What role does art play in your life?

The role art plays is that it helps me not onl cope with the hard times, it's like writing a letter to myself. It makes me understand my position and helps me get past difficult moments. My thoughts and feelings inspire my artistic creations.

Artist statement:

I never thought in a million years I'd be creating my own art, especially in painting form. It's hard to come up with ideas of your own. Thinking only makes it worse, so I just paint with my feelings and thoughts so whatever I'm feeling ends up on the canvas. I find it therapeutic and enjoy creating especially now that I'm past the part where I have to create and have a solution for the creativity/creating.
