Meet the artist: Paul Alonzo
Inspiration for the piece:
The main inspiration was my son. We all have our own galaxies and in these galaxies we have what's important to us. My universe is my son. The eye represents the way I see things and to me everything is cloudy but the relationships with my son and as that grows brighter, everything will become clearer.
What role does art play in your life?
For me, art is very important. My art is mostly written. I write poetry and journal. When I draw, I mostly draw for my family to have something I have done for them, otherwise my art is personal and my thoughts and emotions dictate my poems or journals, the good and bad.
Artist statement:
My name is Paul and I am a person who likes to turn a negative into a positive in any situation, no matter how hard. That is why art is so important because I can transform a negative emotion, thought or experience into a positive, peaceful resolution. If I did not have this outlet my mind would be filled with negative energy.
