Inspired by my mom and everyone else that breast cancer has affected.

What role does art play in your life?

Art plays a good role in my life because it says things that I don't want to say. And my feelings inspire me to create art.

Artist statement:

Thanks for taking the time to come out and view our art work. This is my first time doing a painting in acrylic and my first painting ever. I chose to do a breast cancer ribbon because it's something from the heart. I really didn't think much of any cancer until it came into my life and took my mom from me. In January of 2019, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. When we found out she had breast cancer we moved from Arkansas to Minnesota because Minnesota is the second best state in the country for treating cancer. My mom's brother lived in Minnesota for 20 years, so we moved in with him so we would have a place to stay, so I could focus on being with my mom and helping her out with whatever she needed help with. She fought cancer for 16 months. but the cancer was too aggressive and in may of 2020 the cancer had won. Then two days after my mom passed away I got arrested and didn't get the chance to go to her funeral. o I did this painting for her, and every other woman that fought cancer that lost and that won and to the families that cancer has affected.Together, we can overcome. Together we can beat this. Thanks for your time and love.
