A Piece of Reality, A Piece of Mind

Red Heart 100% acrylic yarn (claret is the color). Wash and dry warm or cool - not hot.

This piece is made in my favorite color and its pattern is a creation of my own as I wanted to be adventurous with doing cable work. I ventured out in getting the cables to move in different directions and tried a completely new way in making button clasps. This is a piece I would wear on a cool fall day in front of a fire, drinking hot cocoa, reminiscing about joyful, loving times with family.

Identity Statement

In my 50-some years, I've found 3 things to be constant in this world. #1 God, #2 Life and Death, #3 Change. For the longest time I only embraced Life & Death, did not know God and fought and despised change. I could say that I even feared change more than one should. Over the years I got to know God and found myself embracing 2 out of the 3 constants that I knew. And now, may years later in my 50's, having made fearful choices that cost me nearly everything, but the two constants that I embrace I have found a small element of courage to try change. This has blossomed in the form of knitting and being able to change my skill set constantly by trying new patterns, projects and techniques. It has helped to make change a little less scary and easier.

What role does art play in your life?

Art keeps me active and out of trouble. One of very few positive habits. It also keeps me creative and useful. My form of art helps people stay warm and in some cases it brings comfort and that is very inspiring and good feelings for the heart.
