Inspiration for the piece:

I wanted to create something with my daughter in it, so I painted a portrait of her.

What role does art play in your life?

Art helps me feel more connected to the ones I love that are out there i the world. Strong emotions inspire my art.

Artist statement:

My daughter is a Native American and African American mixture. My hope is that she will find a balance between both cultures as she grows into a beautiful young woman. If my heart could speak it would tell you about my daughter and what it's like to be an active parent from inside these walls.
