A Living Thing by James Jemming

Mixed Media

Inspiration:

To me, I have to see justice as a living thing, like language, it grows with the generation. My painting is a representation of that. The earth tones and ??(I can't decipher this word) eyes represent things that have been done in the name of Justice, with good or bad intention, and the green and flowers growing over the spaces that are seen now, I have to believe that there is room to grow for us all. in that way.

What role does art play in your life?

Art is my voice. Art is the way that I feel. It is how I can mend my ties with the community and bring joy to those around me. Art is happiness!

Justice statement:

Justice is about a living thing. It has to be. I have to believe that it is. In my painting I am trying to convey that no matter what is broken by, for, in the name of justice, that Justice itself needs to be allowed to grow.
