This piece presents a fractured male figure emerging through torn layers of
reconstituted prison paperwork. The surface is physically ruptured, peeled, burnt,
and uneven revealing multiple strata of image and material. These disruptions
mirror the psychological impact of confinement and the internal pressure of
maturated anger.
The central body appears both monumental and unstable. Muscular forms created
by shadow suggest strength and endurance, while the fragmented face and
surrounding bestial imagery evoke struggle, threat, and the persistence of instinct.
The composition oscillates between control and collapse. It resists clarity. It refuses
calm resolution.
The heart, if given voice, does not offer comfort. It testifies. It exposes the cost of
survival and the effort required to hold oneself together after systemic rupture, while
acknowledging the healing journey of dysfunction. The paper becomes both wound
and evidence — an insistence that what has been endured cannot remain invisible.
